Aengus – Origin and meaning of the name

The Aengus name has a lot of history behind it. The name originated in Scotland back in 1296, and there are several variations to the spelling of the name. For example, it is sometimes spelled as Anguish, Angos or Enguish.

The meaning of Aengus is “exceptional strength” and it is based off the God of love, who is often described as having several birds flying around his head as a symbol of the love he inspires in others.
